Our Youth Action Council (YAC) is a group of local youths who are giving back to the community through service, leadership, and philanthropy. Any youth aged 12 to 19 who is either living in or attending high school in Clare County is eligible to join.

Clare County teens speak out!

541 teens (grades 7-12) recently participated in our Youth Action Council Needs Assessment Survey. Students were polled on the top issues facing their age group, programs and activities they would like to see offered, and more. Click below for the full results:

YAC was created in 1998 by the Clare County Community Foundation to promote the involvement of youth in philanthropy and volunteerism. It receives financial support from the Foundation's Youth Endowment Fund, which, through a challenge grant from the Kellogg Foundation and contributions from the community, has grown to over $65,000.

The goal of YAC is to empower youth to be involved in decision making, be active participants in community service and leadership and take part in awarding grants that will improve the quality of life in Clare County.

YAC meetings are held in school during lunch each month from September to April, usually from 12:00 to 1:00. Meetings typically consist of a business portion and a community service project. The final meeting is a celebration of the year's service and grantmaking efforts at the Senior Scholarship Reception in May.

To join YAC, simply show up to the first meeting. Information about the date, time, and location of the meeting can be found on our YAC Facebook page. You can also email us at hydemich@msu.edu or call your YAC advisor at 989-539-7805.
